CEO receives nominations from more than 100 companies. Employees from
the participating companies filled out anonymous online surveys designed
by Alertus that graded their firm's management team in 10 categories,
ranging from hiring and retention, to benefits, to corporate culture.
The scoring for each category was on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being
the lowest possible score and 10 being the highest. Employee scores
accounted for 67 percent of the final score. The employee survey results
were then tabulated and the scores determined the list of 52 finalists.
The survey results and the corporate profiles, compiled by the companies
themselves, were then judged by selected members of the editorial
staff who scored the companies in each of the 10 categories. The judges
scored the company performance in each category on a scate of 0 to
5, with 0 being the lowest score and 5, the highest. The totals of
the employee survey scores and the judges' survey scores are combined
to create the list's final ranking.
